Stay Warm – Winter Coat Picks 2013

Zara 2013 Lookbook
No matter how fabulous you're dressed, a coat will always be something that dominates your outfit. So a beautiful coat is the best investment you can make to make sure you stay warm and look good everywhere you go. Just shopping for them has been a blast. How can we not love something that keeps us so warm and fashionable? Today we bring you our favorite coat trends of the season and hope you enjoy our picks!

Make It Blush
Black or navy blue is usually the go-to color for a winter outfit, but this season I am a big fan of pastel pink. Needless to say no other color presents femininity like pink, and I love the color for it. It also brings a touch if warmth and softness to your winter closet.

Keep it Short
It is nice to switch from big puffy winter coats to something hugs our figure more. And leather is the best material to block the wind and help you stay warm. Also you can take this chance to look like a tough chick. The color-blocking jackets also seem fun to wear!

Plaid it with a Twist
I never really like the traditional red and black alternated plaid. In my opinion they are too "lumber jacky" for girls. But once the color alteration goes lighter: the mix of cream and pink, or simply black and white, I find them very interesting and high-fashion.

Mid-length Yet Not Mediocre
I've been finding a lot of mid-length coats around this season. Although I still want everything cropped, I definitely have come around on this trend for some of these beautiful coats. The length sits well with the ruffle skirt trend this season and also looks great with shorts. I love coats with a little bit more of a harder edge when braving the weather but it doesn't mean that a delicate-looking coat won't keep you just as warm.

In the Mood for 2013 in Style

New Year's Eve may just be another night but for us it's another excuse to look our best! We wanted to share some inspiring outfits that we can see us ringing in the new year with. Whether you're sharing an intimate night with your closest loved ones or braving the crowds to catch some fireworks, we've you covered with an outfit that will help you face the new year in style.

Xiang
"There's no better time than New Year's Eve to dress well - and be noticed! It is the best opportunity to experiment with fashion styles that we might feel too shy to try, such as bright colors, studs, over-the-top accessories, and sequins."

Holiday Gatherings
Don't be shy to dress up for gatherings this holiday season! It is a big deal that the world has made it pass Dec. 21 2012 :p. Bust out fun patterns with bright colors and be a cheerful funky fashionista.

Dance Party
If you are going to a dance party, then you should really dance, not just tap your feet or nod your head with a smile. Wear something that allows lots of body movement and a pair of comfortable shoes. As for colors, red and gold add warmth and cheer to the party atmosphere. Accessorize with a bit of shine to make the holidays bright.

Intimate Dinner
Some of us might not want to invest in a brand new outfit for NYE, so the trick to look festive is to leverage the right kind of accessories. Find some body-draping jewelry that you can easily layer on top of a simple black dress or top. Also, the add-on collars seem to be lots of fun to play with. The best part of draped jewelry or collars is that they make a great impression at the dinner table (people are just looking at what is above the table right?). Belts and clutches are worth investing too - they can make any outfit look upscale and sophisticated.

Outdoor Fireworks
If you are going to be outdoors in winter, like waiting at Times Square for the ball drop and snapping pictures of your friends, family, and the crazy lights, bundle up with hats and special gloves. Many gloves now have the "tech fingertips" so you can still be swift taking photos of fireworks using your phone. I'd also recommend knitted, over-the-knee dresses to layer inside a long coat. Knitted dresses are the bests for cold weather: they are usually slightly over-sized, so you can wear an undershirt inside (Uniqlo has many fitted undershirts with HEATTECH). Also opt for a pair of comfy boots instead of heels for the best and most comfortable evening of 2013.

Jen
"Do I believe in casual gatherings for New Year's Eve? Of course I do. However I don't believe in dressing casually for New Year's Eve. Everyone should start off their new year with their best and sparkliest foot forward! So the outfits I put together have plenty of sparkle to last year round. "

Fall into Fashion: Our Favorite Looks for Fall 2012

Xiang:
Outfits for Fall usually tend to have a darker shade than Summer or Spring looks therefor our wardrobes tend to go from pink to maroon, baby grassy green to dimmer military green, and yellow gets more paired up with dark brown or black, etc. Topshop's 2012 Fall lookbook seems to fit into Fall very nicely. Mixing and matching different materials and patterns keeps things interesting.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gillyhicks is one of our favorite brands for intimates. Their looks usually stay classy and does change dramatically between seasons, but they do work well if you are looking for some cute basics. Their sweaters are soft and can complete a low-key "preppy" look if that's what you are looking for.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are just a fan of lighter colors, take a look at Nasty Gal's Fall 2012 lookbook: the pallete is light and warm, but they do have The Kink look to keep on the neon trend from this summer.

Jen:
I thought I'd take this time to talk about my favorite upcoming trends this fall and one of the most prominent trends I'm seeing is faux leather everything (or sometimes real leather).

Faux Leather

I have to admit, I can't wait to get my hands on the perfect faux leather skirt as well as some faux leather shorts. I currently have my eye on the leather mini from American Apparel

The High Slit
Another trend that I'm really excited about is the maxi skirt/dress with a high slit... or otherwise popularly known as Angelina Jolie-ing.

Zara Fall 2012
Mango Fall 2012

My right (or left) leg is definitely going to get some fresh air this fall!

Knitted Skirts
I don't know why we don't have this next trend every fall and winter however, I'm thankful there will be an abundance of knitted skirts this fall.

Max Mara Fall 2012

The knitted skirt is such a cozy and chic trend that I may just wear that all season long, alone with all the sweater dresses that will be soon to come.

The Peplum
Lastly, the biggest trend of all has been the peplum. This old style trend has come back for 2012 and will be bigger than ever this fall.
