I Can Hear the Bells

Wedding season has officially begun and, like me, you might find yourself purchasing a ton of dresses to avoid showing up in the same outfit twice. These photos were actually shot right before attending a friend's wedding and, for an event that will most likely be the most photographed event of someone's life, you want to look your best without overshadowing the couple. So I went with a simple dress with a little sparkle and low heels for the dance floor. I could easily swap out these beautiful Jeffrey Campbell bow heels for a pair of metallic ones to be a little trendier. You can even pair the dress with a jeweled belt to add a bit more shine!

I Was Made for Sunny Days

Rarely in Seattle do we see the sun in the months between November and May so finding 70 degree and sunny weather in San Francisco in March felt like a dream. I think I fell in love with the California sun over the weekend after weeks of rain but now all I can do is yearn for our next encounter.

The Lucky Ones

Photography by Albert Park

I find myself lucky to be in a city full celebrations this week. Seattle brings in the Lunar New Year with a bang and I bring it in with bright red (for a little luck). Not only are there fireworks for the year of the horse but there are fireworks to celebrate our first Super Bowl victory ever. I'm not a huge football fan (or even a small one) but I know now what it feels like to see a city overcome with excitement and joy with victory in their hearts... and it feels amazing. A lot of people might not understand what it's truly like to be a Seattleite at the moment but just know that we finally have something to cheer for. And these small victories have earned a whole city's worth of celebrations.

First Day of Fall

Photography by the Dapper Albert Park

Saturday was the first day of fall so I wanted to show off the skirt that I will be rocking all of fall. Even though the sun still shines between the grey clouds and the showers, nothing says fall more like the dropping temperature and the dropping leaves. I got this skirt in the mid 2000's when the layered bottom was still popular. However the asymmetrical cut was really odd back then but now I feel like it fits in well with the high-low trend.

A Postcard from Portland

Jen looked at my outfit and said "This is a very grunge." Then we jumped into her car and I heard her GPS saying "Directions to abandoned site." Jen had to explain to me it is not really a sketchy abandoned site I imagined. Instead, it was a burned down factory in an industrial part of the town, and it was not far from downtown area. We actually had some shoots there before.

A fun fact: none of the outfit items belong or originally belonged to me. The vest and dress are again from my friend Michelle from our clothing swap. The fierce shoes are from Jen and you probably have seen her in them a couple times. For those of you who have not done clothing swap yet with your friends, I highly encourage it. It is a good way to make room in your closet, but at the same time you know your clothes will be given new life by your friends. Also you can pick up some good pieces as well!

♥ [Dandelions]

The sun and the blue skies are enough to make me excited for spring and summer. I can already smell the barbecue in the air and the ocean breeze on my skin even if the temperature isn't any warmer than usual. Spring doesn't often make me want to dress like I live in the 1950's but I have to admit, I rather like it. I like the idea of driving in a convertible on a sunny day with a scarf to protect your hair and some killer vintage sunglasses to protect your eyes. This vision inspired my outfit today, though one day I will need to find a proper head scarf.

♥ [Knock on Wood]

Photography by the Colorful Zooey Ingles

Wood is definitely an odd element to have in clothing but some designs can work it in beautifully. It may not look comfortable to walk on wood but these shoes are more stable than they seem and comfortable to boot! I get a ton of compliments whenever I wear them, from all sorts of women. However, my favorite thing about them is that they don't look like just any old shoes. It's hard to find a pair that is the least bit similar and it feels good to have something so fabulous be uniquely your's.

♥ [Be Mine]

Photography by the Lovable Zooey Ingles

As a girl, it's hard not to love Valentine's Day. Everything is pink, purple, and heart-shaped. On top of that, men will feel compelled to celebrate their love for you. What's not to love? Even though it's not always the easiest day of the year for everyone, it's at least an excuse to tell someone you love them... and also break out all your best pink-hued clothing! Here's a sweater that I utterly love and also something that is perfect to wear on a cold, brittle February day or a casual Valentine's Day date.

In the Mood for Tea & Biscuits

Photography by the Earl Grey Lover Zooey Ingles

How do you dress up a plain grey dress? With furs and jewels of course! I bought this dress because it was simple, easy to wear, and flattering to the body but oftentimes, even though I love wearing it, it was just too plain. So I saw it fitting to not just wear one but two necklaces from my favorite jewelry designers as well as seek out a fur scarf to keep me warm. What do you think of the results? Perfect for afternoon tea?

In the Mood for a Splash of Wine

Photography by the Train-spotting Michael Shriver

Tis the season for statement trousers and there's no better way to balance the bright hues of summer with the somber hues of winter than with plum jeans. This color represents the best of both seasons since it perfectly pairs with the blacks and grays of winter as well as the bright yellows and pinks of spring and summer. Not to mention it also looks great with gold!
