A Lack of Color

Photography by the Exquisite Michael Shriver
We've had our wonderful days of sun here in the Emerald City and now the grey weather has brought us back to the reality that it is indeed still May. Summer couldn't come soon enough although I'm thankful that the season's stark black and whites will work in any weather.

Easter Sunday

Easter is a holiday that is often confusing to celebrate. From what I know of it, we welcome Spring with signs of fertility–such as the rabbit and the egg–and reap the spoils of our harvest. So, taking this concept, we paint the eggs beautiful pastel colors and search for them in grass while giving our loved ones chocolate bunnies then we dine on the crops Spring brings. Personally, I love finding eggs just as much as I love their beautiful colors. But since I'm too old for these Easter antics, my celebration of Easter consists of decorating myself in pastels and florals. I hope you enjoy my Easter outfit and we would also love to see some of your's!

In the Mood for Trading Skylines

Photography by the Fiery Zooey Ingles

It's hard to get over how incredibly easy and comfortable this skirt is. Not only that but it gives me at least the illusion of height. Leave it to a thigh high slit to make your legs look longer than they actually are! However, my favorite thing about this piece is that it's simple enough for you to dress it up or down or even sweet or tough. Paired with a leather jacket, I could probably join a bicycle gang but paired with a formal top, I could fit right in at the opera in this skirt.

In the Mood for a Quiet Place

Photography by the fabulous Zooey Ingles

Libraries are easily one of my favorite places in the world growing up and the architectural marvel that is the Seattle Public Library is nothing short of amazing. I have an affinity for old books so I go wherever the first editions are. So much so that I tried to pass a college course using just the first edition of the couse textbook. Needless to say, I did surprisingly well so I wouldn't discount the library when looking for cheap (and beautiful) alternatives to buying this quarter's textbook.

When purchasing a white lace skirt, no matter who the maker is, I recommend also purchasing a slip to wear underneath. I tried on a few skirts before settling on this H&M one and they were all very sheer. White is just not a color made to hide anything.

In the Mood for the Salty Ocean Air

Photography by the Admirable Michael Shriver

This weekend I got to breathe in the salty air of the open sea and eat all of its contents too! The best meals are truly the ones you catch yourself and if you ever find the opportunity to convince your parents to  retire on a boat, be sure to seize it!

Something you shouldn't do is walk around on a sail boat with 4-inch heels though. The shoes looked fantastic for the camera but I had a few close calls there.

In the Mood for a Day Without Rain

Photography by the Exciting Damian Tew

I was so lucky that it stopped raining for a bit of time this Saturday for me to take some beautiful pictures next to the waterfront. I love the clouds and haze on a rainy day but threading through puddles in these fantastic heels is not an easy feat. Needless to say, I was able to keep them white (for now).  It's almost July and we are still seeing a lot of rain in Seattle which is hard to dress for. I want to wear all my summer clothes but I find myself still breaking out the occasional sweater. This outfit is actually warm enough for a rainy day but is also appropriate for summer. Just watch out for puddles!
