Miami Vice

Photography by the Beautiful Brennan Thome

This dress reminds me of Florida in the 80's so I had to pair it with everything neon! Granted the northwest doesn't quite have the scenery of Miami but at least we have the weather this week.

In the Mood for Fall Layers

Fall is approaching and the weather in SF is unpredictable. One part of town will be warm while another part of town just 10 minutes away will be foggy, windy, and coooold. Growing up, my mom always told me that as long as I keep my chest and legs warm, then I wouldn't be cold. Last year, she got me this vintage blue, red, and cream striped wool sweater. I love how soft and light weight the wool is. Paired with the leg warmers, they protect me from the ever-changing weather and SF wind. Mom was right! If only I listened more...

Passing by Haight and Ashbury one day, I came across a store called Wasteland and felt in love with this brown, leather handbag covered by colorful cotton patches. It is the right size for day-to-day use and also works as a carry-on bag. It is fun as well as practical, with multiple pockets inside and out.

Hat: Vintage (seen here)
Shirt: Zara (seen here)
Wool Sweater Vest: similar sweater
Skirt: Urban Outfitters (similar)

In the Mood for a Monster and Mischief

Hiding under the Aurora Bridge in Seattle, the Fremont Troll, made of steel, wire, and concrete, poses with me for this photo shoot. It is in Seattle's quirky and cute Fremont neighborhood, where we also found the Mischielf Distillery and Tasting Room, another hidden gem for the photos in this post.

This outfit has a crazy, retro color palette and this season's trendy neon yellow. The ASOS pencil skirt is seriously skin tight! Wearing it makes me feel like a mermaid :p. The high "flatform" is not only extremely comfortable, but also light on my feet.

In the Mood for a Small Burst of Color

Photography by the Industrious Michael Shriver

Horned rimmed glasses are pretty up and coming so I was lucky to find a pair that actually fit my tiny head. I'll have the thank that 4-year-old for tossing them aside. Unfortunately sunny days are uncommon on a June day in Seattle so it's nice to wear a little burst of color to remind myself of brighter days. These shorts are the perfect for when you just want a little pop of neon and they're amazing for the price. If only they had pockets...

In the Mood for the Highlights in Life

Photography by the Vigorous Michael Shriver

First I bought the shoes and then I found myself buying everything in that same color. Maybe I'm optimistically looking forward to a bright summer or I just need a little highlighter in my life. Whatever the reason, you won't miss me walking down Broadway in these hot shorts for sure.

In the Mood for Gummy Colors

I visited Jen in Seattle memorial day weekend (see our adventures in the previous post). It was great being reunited! During the short visit, Jen photographed me in 4 different outfits. We are very excited to put them up for you guys! This is the first shoot we did. It took place at the famous gum wall (one of Jen's previous posts also took place there) near Pike Place.

The gum wall, as the name implies, it is a wall full of gums! I personally love it. It's so quirky and fun. The best part I think is that everybody can contribute to it easily.

The color palette of my outfit somehow resembles the color of some parts of the wall: bright yet a bit muted. I love this neon yellow shirt I got from a trip to Chicago. The black collars, front pocket and back seam add a bit retro "star war" feel to it.

Hope you enjoy this post. There is more to come! Also follow us on Instagram (inthemoodforheart) and get more inside scoops of x&j.

A little extra... :)
