In the Mood for a Little Winter Sunshine

Photography by the Flashy Zooey Ingles

Sequins have become the new party uniform. However I can't bear to walk into a room of a million girls in sequin dresses and skirts just like mine. So I found a way to rock them during the day and I've been in love with it. Even though normal things like sweatshirts aren't generally glamorous, they are when you add a touch of sequin. I love how suddenly everything I wear looks dressed up and thus is the power of shiny objects.

In the Mood for a Jet Setter Lifestyle

I love me a pair of paper bag shorts, especially for the right price. Unfortunately, when you buy a cheap pair of shorts, the material starts pilling like crazy. And if you carry a large bag that rubs against your shorts while walking, you're basically ensuring their doom.

I'm not sure these fake suede shorts are made out of but it must be nothing short of magic.  Not only does it look and feel like real suede but it survives the long walks with my camera bag, allowing me to work with no worry.

This outfit is certainly perfect for traveling or even in the office in the summer time.

In the Mood for May Flowers

Photography by Rishi Sanyal
The Skagit Tulip Festival is probably one of the most beautiful places in the northwest towards the end of April. The rows and rows of lush vibrant colors always make me excited to take photos... even if it's at 6 a.m. This denim shirt and the locale made me feel a bit like a farm girl but I love the lace detailing on the back and the color blends in well with a light colored skirt or even pants for that matter. I purchased this blouse fairly recently however, anything at Forever 21 has a life span of being on the shelf for two weeks before selling out. It's really a shame when it comes to unique pieces like this because it's hard to find anything remotely similar. I'm starting to become a fan of lace backs though.

What I'm Wearing

Blouse: Forever 21 Denim Cold Shoulder Shirt (similar)
Shirt: Express Sequin Racerback (similar)

In the Mood for a Dream in Creamsicle

This skirt is simply elegant and moves like a dream. I first fell in love with it when I saw how completely simple yet unique the shape was. The asymmetrical cut gives the skirt a unique view from each side yet the slit balances out the extra length to make a short girl, like me, look taller.

I found out today that my partner, Xiang, will be visiting Seattle next month which is super exciting because we rarely get a chance to see each other. I'm excited for all the blog photo shoots to come!

What I'm Wearing

Blouse: Broadway & Bloom Silk Blouse
Skirt: The Addison Story Asymmetrical Skirt
Earrings: T+J Designs Gold Tassels
Necklace: Forever 21 Leaf Tiered Necklace
Shoes: Vince Camuto Vickiy Pump (4" Version)

In the Mood for a Splash of Sun

I'd like to note that this is not my dog although he made an adorable accessory and I highly recommend him for anyone who wants something fluffy in their lives. I put together this outfit because I wanted to show off these cutout oxfords. It took me so long to find them in my size and now that I have them, I have to say that they make the perfect shoes for warm weather. Not only are they light weight but they're comfortable and classy. Now all I have to do is watch out for when it rains!

In the Mood for Some Serious Business

Blazers always have the magical ability of adding formality to any outfit. I can wear just the skirt and the top to brunch or the park but throw on a blazer and now it's an outfit that I can wear to an interview or formal business events. There's a rumor that the number of blazers you own really represent your importance in your field. Hillary Clinton is proof.

In the Mood for a Lovely View

After this shoot I think I found at least 32 bobbing pins in my hair. I loved how regal this bun looked but it's way too complicated for me to do on my own! This is one of my many outfits for a cold rainy day where I will be spending much of my time indoors. It's really obvious I got the inspiration for the color palette from the grey Seattle weather.  However grey the outfit though, having a skirt with pockets is the most convenient thing in the world! This wool mini and thigh high sock combination overall is a great outfit for staying in but warm enough to run around in the rain in.

What I'm Wearing

Tights: H&M Sheer Black Tights (similar)

In the Mood for Lace & Luxury

I must be subconsciously following Jack Donaghy's tapes on Negotiating to Win because I've notice the trend of red accents in a lot of my outfits lately. I don't regret this one though because one of my favorite trends this spring is the lace pencil skirt and they look pretty killer in red.

Blouse: H&M Tier Chiffon Top (similar)
Skirt: Staring at Stars Tiered Crochet Mini Skirt
Necklace: Forever 21 Leaves Swag Necklace (strikingly similar)
